On a dare, E'Jay picked up a makeup brush on a Spanish Soap Opera set, to do the make up of the starlets. Twenty-five years later, makeup artistry is still his pride and joy.

In an industry where most artists peter-out in five to ten years, this Puerto Rican born, New Yorker has been in the business for over 20 years. E'Jay has worked with Classic European Fashion and Makeup Houses such as Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior and Lancome. He also consulted for Clarins, Payot, Dermablend, Revlon and Ahava.

He studied at the Ultissima Beauty Institute in New York and the Atelier de Maquiage in France, toured with highly sought after names in the music industry and worked the "L'Atelier" shows for the houses of Escada.

E'Jay was first lured to Hawaii as a consultant for a beauty pageant, and for some much needed rest and respite. Little did he realize that the blue Hawaiian skies and dreamy sunsets had more work in store for him. He soon became a hot commodity in the beauty industry, often the first artist called upon when a Hollywood production comes on location to Hawaii.

When he isn't traveling, conducting trainings or meeting with the international press, you won't find him doing only special engagements for the rich and famous. What you will find is E'Jay, the much-loved makeup guru at one of the Sephora stores, or at the Body & Soul Boutique, working his magic on women from all walks of life.

When asked what it is that keeps him going all these years, E'Jay's reply is simple. "It's the people. Seeing someone's reaction when you are able to bring out their self-confidence and inner beauty is a reward in it of itself. That's the way make-up should be."
